Really Oscar!

All I wanted to do was blog and someone had a different idea. He usually doesn't hang out above me like this but for some reason tonight he thought I needed a neck warmer. He also thinks I don't wash my face good enough either, so he constantly is cleaning it!

Night folks,

Poor Yellow Man

Oscar's favorite squeaky toy is now blind in one eye, just like Oscar! Sorry if that is mean to say, but hey, it's my dog and it's kind of the cold hard truth.

"Thankful Challenge" - Oscar the Pup

11//14/13 - Oscar the Pup
I can not believe my sweet little Oscar is 1!

We just got done celebrating Oscar's 1st Birthday and I can't believe my baby no longer a puppy (though we will continue to call him a puppy cause he is just so tiny!).  He had such a blast opening up presents and got spoiled by the people that love him.  Oscar did score some great presents though: a couple new squeaky toys, a new dog bed, fancy treats from the local pet store and best of all, an edible Birthday card.  He thought that was the coolest thing ever and wouldn't give it up.  I even got him a little bandanna that he wore that said 'Birthday Boy' on it. Now he didn't get the big party that I was wanting to give him, but he still had a great night.  {{I was originally going to have Aaron's parents over along with mine and have a cookout, but we had extended family visiting and it didn't work out to all meet up.  Aaron thought the big party was going a bit overboard for a dog, but what does he know anyways!}}

Love you Oscar! :)

I am so thankful to have him in my life and couldn't ask for a better puppy (except for when he makes messes or barks for no reason).  Hope I'm not the only person out there that loves their pet like he's a baby!

He's got his mother's eyes...

It's Saturday night and I am sooo tired from a the long work week and from last night's fish fry outing with co-workers (where too many Budlights may have been consumed), that I am just going to stay at home with Aaron and Oscar.  Oscar has spent the last 24 hours at Aaron's parents, so that his little sister could get some time with him while she's home on spring break.  It was kind of nice not having him wake us up this morning but the minute he came scampering through the door, I difintely missed our little guy.  So, I'm gunna spend my evening doing one of my favorite things...cuddling with Oscar! :)

Winter Storm - Triton

When it's March 10th and you live in Iowa, you have to except the weird weather. Yesterday it rained from about 3 a.m till the middle of the afternoon, accumulating about an inch. Which I'm not complaining about the rain, since we desperately need moisture in the ground with spring right around the corner. What I am complaining about is after all that rain, what do we get today to add to it...SNOW!

It has been snowing all day and it doesn't help that the wind has been blowing it around at about 30 mph. Aaron and I decided to have a lazy day, since we couldn't go anywhere (I accomplished nothing but read about half of the book I just started and he got a nap in). At about 5 o'clock, I thought it was time we actually got up and did something, so we decided to go out and play in the snow. And when I mean play, I mean with Aaron's new truck and doing donuts with it.  Oscar loved being outside and couldn't sit still while we made circles in the snow.

*Oh, and since when did we start naming winter storms?! I've vaguely understood why we do it for hurricanes, but is it really necessary to do it to a for a snow storm.  Don't worry, this is just me ranting...

might be able to see my parents house behind the trees

Puppy Bowl 2013

I'm not a fan of football at all and my boyfriend can vouch that for the last five years he has had to struggle to put up with the fact that I know nothing about the sport.  You see, I was raised to love the American game of baseball and was never taught any other sport.  My two older brothers "played" football, but weren't any good at it to really get into the games. So, when Aaron and I started dating during his senior year of football, he was quite surprised how little I knew about the sport; I guess he just figured everyone knew the basics of football.  Well, I'm slowly learning the basics of football and give all my credit to Aaron and his family & friends to teach me and deal with my 'blondeness' when we sit and watch football games.

Today is Super Bowl Sunday and usually I do get excited to meet up with friends, eat tons of junk food and laugh at the funny commercials. Unfortunately, I have been battling the cold/flu for five days now and I didn't want to pass along my germs to others, so I am sitting at home with my puppy, Oscar.  Aaron is off at one of his friends for some pre-game partying and video-gaming (another thing that I have had to learn through this relationship).  So, its just me and my favorite pooch spending the day together and I am super excited for the Animal Planet "Puppy Bowl" to start!

Last year, I made Aaron's college roommates watch the Puppy Bowl, but they were not impressed. And it doesn't look like Oscar is too excited about watching other puppies either...

Oh well, I guess I'll just enjoy the cuteness of adoptable puppies bouncing around and playing together all by myself.  Hmmm, I wonder how Aaron would feel if I got ourselves another puppy?! Oscar does need a friend to play with when we're away and I still do want to get a girl puppy.

Hope you all enjoy the Super Bowl and if you get a chance, take a minute to watch the Puppy Bowl!

Tail Waggin' Kinda Love

I just love coming home from a long day at work and have this lil' guy come running towards me.  It instantly puts a smile on my face and gets rid of all my stress.  Plus, look how talented he is by carrying a ball and his teddy bear.  How many 10 week old puppies do you know that can do that?!

Happy Friday, Everybody!! :)

My lil' guy is 2 months old today! :)

On December 23rd, my boyfriend and I got a new puppy for each other for Christmas.  We had found a breeder for a mini dachshund and after looking at a couple different litters, we selected on a dapple male.  It wasn't my choice to get a dachshund but my boyfriend, Aaron, insisted on that breed and when I saw his unique markings I just had to say yes.  Well, Oscar (or Oscar Meyer the Wiener Dog, which is his full name) turned 2 months old today! :)

I never thought I would be one of those crazy dog people who would celebrate random moments in my dog's life, but I'm telling you, this little guy has changed my whole perspective on life.  So far, after just a few shorts weeks of having him, I can already let loose after a long day at work as soon as I see his little ears flop as he comes running toward me.  I can't wait to see what else this little guy has to show me in the future.  I love you Oscar! :)
